Hahn
has a long tradition and reputation as being one of the finest restoration
and conservation firms. We have worked on some of the major collections
in Britain and most of the great masters' paintings have passed
through their hands, as can be seen in our Client
list.
|
|
We do two things - conserve, and restore. Conserving paintings
means taking proper care of them, preserving them in the best possible
condition both to prevent physical deterioration, and so that they
can be seen they way they should - luminous and rich in colour.
This involves such things as periodic re-varnishing, and protection
from humidity.
|
|
If conservation is done correctly, it goes a long way in preventing
the need for restoration. However, improper care may lead to damage
which unfortunately needs repair. This may involve re-lining of
a canvas, and filling large cracks. We strongly recommend the best
possible care of fine art so as to make such steps unnecessary,
and we are happy to provide information should you wish to contact
us.
